Tips for Searching

• WebGlimpse interprets a comma as "or." So don't use a comma unless you want to look for more than one topic at a time.
• When searching for a person, just use the last name. Including the first name or a degree can cause you to miss documents in which the word string does not appear precisely the same way.
• Don't place word strings in quotes as you might in other search engines.
• For words that are likely to be in more than 50 files, you might find our Google search page useful.

Interpreting the Results

• For detailed discussions, first try entries under the headings that appear to be full articles.
• Links that begin with "index.html" are the titles of articles listed on the home page. In most cases they should be ignored.
• Headings containing "booklist" or "BookContents" should be ignored unless you would like to see which books we sell contain the search topic.
• Most dictionary links are for single paragraphs.

Navigating to Search Results

• If you want to access many items, use your browser to open a new window to each linked page.
• When you are finished with that page you can simply close it rather than using the "Back" command to return to the search results.
